If you enjoy battle royale first person shooter style games like Fortnite, PUBG, and COD: Warzone and wondered how it might look in Virtual Reality then this is the game you have been waiting for. Possible the best Battle Royale VR Game.
Population: One is a VR Battle Royale game from BigBox VR. It has taken aspects from Fortnite like the building but more like Call of Duty has kept the party small . What makes this royale unique even in VR is the climbing and flying vertical aspect. You can literally climb anything and jump off from anywhere to glide. The crazy thing is you can shoot or throw grenades while doing so making this a crazy combination. See Trailer below.
Currently it is set to premiere on Oculus Quest and Rift Platforms but the developers have assured that they are looking to bring this to all VR capable systems. Not only that, they are making the game cross-play ready so you can match up with pretty much any one that owns a VR headset ( PSVR still to come).
Even though this game doesn't appear to take itself too seriously (considering you peel a banana and drink soda to heal up) it has taken many positive steps to become a contender with others by being ESport compatible from day one. From the spectator view to the map size and player count, Population: One has been made with ESports in mind which should give it a huge advantage over the other few VR royales out there.
Population: One places 18 people (6 teams of three) against each other. Its vertical game style makes it a great addition to the VR platform. Considering most matches are only about 8 minutes long it helps avoid needless traveling getting you into the action right away. This also helps those who get motion sickness with VR by not having them be exposed for too long.
The game will be available October 22 on Oculus Quest, Quest 2, Rift, HTC Vive, Windows MR and Valve Index for $30. Once satisfied, BigBox will also bring this to PSVR.
